Today in in science club we looked at the importance of how we load our cargo onto the RRS Sir David Attenborough, as there will be lots of important research equipment needed. We looked at positioning of cargo and how adding a keel to the bottom of our boat helped to give more options.
Our first science club attracted great interest from boys and girls from years 3 to 6.
We are using the polar explorer resources and today's task was to construct a sea-worthy vessel. The lump of plasticine had to be made to float and carry cargo.
The challenge was to investigate how many dried peas your vessel could carry without sinking.
Today Year 3 read from St John's Gospel about Jesus washing the feet of the disciples at the Last Supper. We discussed how this linked back to the feast of Christ the King when we learned about Jesus being a different kind of King - a Servant King.
