In our maths lesson we have been creating our own data to work out the mean (average) in our class.
The challenge was to work in Kagan pairs and catch a beanbag as many times as they could in a minute, we then used what we had learnt in our lesson to work out the mean of our class.
As an introduction to their history work, Year 1 have been watching Starman floating around in a car in space.
How did he get there? Where is he going? How is he floating along? Why is he wearing a helmet? Is he real? Were just some of the questions the children asked.
As a new approach in Numeracy the children have been following the 4 ways above of how to understand a question. This method offers deeper understanding and helps with problem solving, and reasoning. Here is a sample of work when looking at improper fractions.
Thanks, Mr Barker.
