Diagonal Sums

In Year 3 today we were looking for patterns and trying to use our mathematical vocabulary to explain  reasons  for answers when we added 2 digit numbers that were diagonally opposite each other on a 100 grid. The problem was from the Nrich website.  We  started off with a small grid of numbers that were close to each other but the space between them got wider and wider.  A lot of children were able spot the patterns and some managed to explain  in great detail the reasons for the answers. This was an algebraic type of problem and  the children did really well!
