As part of their history work , Year 1 brought in some photographs of themselves from when they were tiny babies to how they are now at age 6. They then put them in chronological order using a timeline.
Year 1 had a great History Day. They learnt about the two World Wars by doing different workshops in each class and even met a World War I soldier. At the end of the day they got to celebrate the end of the war with a street party!
Year two enjoyed their time in the forest today. What started with den building and swinging quickly turned into war, with our children reinacting the amazing facts they found out at this week's history day!!!
Children had the opportunity to visit the Year 2 workshop and find out what it was like to be an evacuee during World War 2. We found out what we had to pack in our suitcase and imagined how it would feel to be sent to the countryside without our family.
The children have had a lovely day today celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the end of the World War. They have enjoyed workshops, activities and rounded off the day with a street party and dancing.
As part of our history day today we discussed the importance of poppies and why they are used to remember those who died for us during World War 1. We then went on to make our own poppies.
