Today in in science club we looked at the importance of how we load our cargo onto the RRS Sir David Attenborough, as there will be lots of important research equipment needed. We looked at positioning of cargo and how adding a keel to the bottom of our boat helped to give more options.
This week's sign of the week is 'please and thankyou'! Remember 'please' comes down to your tummy and 'thank you' is much shorter. Maybe you could use it at snack and lunchtime. Happy signing!!

Today we raised money to support the work of the Salesian Sisters in Nairobi. A team of teachers are travelling to Nairobi to support two schools and provide new resources and create new experiences for the children. We raised £264.84 to support this wonderful cause.
Our first science club attracted great interest from boys and girls from years 3 to 6.
We are using the polar explorer resources and today's task was to construct a sea-worthy vessel. The lump of plasticine had to be made to float and carry cargo.
The challenge was to investigate how many dried peas your vessel could carry without sinking.
As part of our history topic, we have been learning how the plague spread to Eyam, so today, we paid a visit to the village.
Our first stop was the village church where we learnt about the sacrifice the villagers were prepared to make to save their neighbours.

As well as the statue in the Peace Garden, the GIFT Team have also prepared some displays. Here are some of the children cutting out daisies.
Here they are putting up pictures of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Czestochowa.
As it is the 1st of May some girls from our GIFT Team prepared a crown, flowers and materials for the statue of Mary in our Peace Garden.
Year 1 and Year 2 were invited to join a procession to the statue and sing the hymns "Bring Flowers of the Rarest" and "Ave Maria Gratia Plena"
