Year 1 have been ordering the months of the year and sorting them into seasons. They added special events that happen during each season, such as Easter and Christmas and the changes in the weather and trees.
This week at science club we made our own speed boats only using card, water and hand soap. By creating a small slit in the card and adding a small amount of soap, due to surface tension, the boats surged forward in the water!
This week at Science club we looked at what was needed to keep a flame lit, and how carbon dioxide can be used to extinguish a flame. We then carried out a chemical reaction adding baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to vinegar (ethanoic acid) which produced carbon dioxide ( and sodium acetate) which then extinguished our candle's.
