A simple question, but a complex discussion. Year 5, was tasked with discovering what would be the best material to create a toy boat. As they experimented they had to continue to think, "Which is the best material to make a boat?" The children check if an item; would float, is durable, is water-proof. There was some deep scientific...
On Friday Year 6 put on a special performance for reception. After careful planning, rehearsing and creating their own puppets, Year 6 performed a spoon puppet show! Reception really enjoyed each show and were given a spoon puppet to keep from their special friends.
Year 5 was lucky enough to spend a day at the MOSI. During our visit we saw the Soyuz space shuttle the exact one that Tim Peake landed back to Earth in. They also had a space lesson, which went through areas that the scientist had to solve before Tim's expedition. The children had a great time in the...
Year 5 have designed their landing crafts, today they built them. There were 3 levels to see who had constructed the most efficient craft. In level 1, one craft cracked and one egg cracked. Level 2 we got a little higher and the extra height increased the air resistance on some crafts and made their landings even better. On to...
Today, Year 5 were investing the structure of bridges. They wanted to know how paper can be manipulated to create a stronger bridge. This links into so many skills, especially, those in the STEM careers.
Thanks for the memories, Mr Barker
In R.E Year 5 have been looking at the importance of the cross and that there are different types of crosses. We have attempted to make our own stained glass crosses. We haven't quite finished yet but the creativity is fantastic.
Thanks, Mr Barker.
In science Year 5 are looking at forces. They have worked in Kagan groups to design a parachute that could safely land an egg on the ground . As you can see the first Eggonaut didn’t make it, hopefully the children will do better.
Thanks, Mr Barker.
We followed our instructions to make our own delicious bowl of porridge. We followed the instructions carefully and measured out our ingredients!
