This week at science club we made our own speed boats only using card, water and hand soap. By creating a small slit in the card and adding a small amount of soap, due to surface tension, the boats surged forward in the water!
This week at Science club we looked at what was needed to keep a flame lit, and how carbon dioxide can be used to extinguish a flame. We then carried out a chemical reaction adding baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to vinegar (ethanoic acid) which produced carbon dioxide ( and sodium acetate) which then extinguished our candle's.
Year 3 have continued to develop their chess skills and are now ready to play a full game! Chess helps to exercise the brain, develops problem solving skills, and teaches children how to be calm while under pressure.
