We had lots of fun in year 1 on World Book Day.

In year 1 we invited classes to come and design a bookmark. Everyone was really creative and we hope they will be putting their bookmarks to good use as they continue to enjoy their reading.
Year 1 talked about the wildlife we have in our forest. We put food out for the birds and squirrels, spoke about building hedgehog hotels, looked at which trees are safe to climb, safe ways to climb and found out how high we could climb up a tree. Today the whole class put on some waterproof trousers and their wellies and went out onto the field. Their challenge was to build a snowman, make a snow angel and have fun in the snow!! Afterwards the children enjoyed hot chocolate and a biscuit to warm up.
As part of Lent, Year 1 have chosen to raise some money for CAFOD by collecting 2 pence pieces.
We are hoping to fill as many squares on our rug with 2ps as we can.
