In Year 3 the children are lucky enough to have a designated chess lesson! It is a great game for helping concentration and problem solving.
Today was their first lesson and they played a Pawn Game to help them understand how the pawn moves on a chess board.
It was great fun!
Today in Year 3 we had to vote in representatives for our Student Council.
Those children who wanted the role wrote a speech and spoke to the whole class (very brave!) about the the qualities of a great student councillor . They also gave some ideas about the kind of things that they would help to change.
Look on the blog...
In religion the children reflected on the wonder of Creation and how what we do to the planet affects all living things.
They read quotes from Scripture and watched a video of St Francis's Canticle of the Sun. In their books they wrote their own prayer praising God for Creation.
On Thursday 7th September children in Year 3 helped to follow a recipe to make some food that people in the Stone Age would have eaten. They washed their hands and put on aprons to protect themselves.
Then they took turns to put the ingredients into the pot.
They left it to cool.....before trying it.
Some children really liked it but..........................some...
The children have settled in really well today and have worked hard in English and Maths.
In English the children worked in Kagan groups to identify the features of Instruction texts. We even had to put them in order.
In maths we worked in pairs to show how we could make 3 digit numbers in different ways....
