Stone Age Sculptures

In year 3 we learned about the artist Alberto Giacometti. He was a famous sculptor who created sculptures of people and animals.

Year 3 looked at some of his sculptures and then designed a sculptor of their own in his style.

The children created a Stone Age person with a spear. It took a lot of preparation and time. First the children had to cover a metal frame with clay. Then they painted the clay with black paint. Next they attached the sculpture to a wooden plinth and covered that in clay as well and painted it black too. After that they painted the sculpture with a metal paint to make it look bronze.

Here are some photos of us working on our sculptures.
