Today we had Family Friday and invited family members of our Year 2 children. The children led the prayer service and sang a song. We shared our hard work with our parents! We are very proud of their achievements this half term!
These are the Year 5 children who received a Special Mention award. We have 4 Special Mention cushions such as, Superstar, Maths Magician, Brilliant Behaviour, Writing Wizard and Miss Oddie gives out a lunch time award to those who help others at lunch time.

Today Year 3 carried out a practical investigation to see which magnet could hold the most paper clips. They made a prediction then carried out the investigation and recorded their findings on a bar chart.

In class we carried out an investigation to find out which surface had the most friction.
Here are some photos of the children testing a carpeted surface! they found out it had the most friction because it had to be raised 8 cm before the car would move!
In Year 3 the children used counters to help them use the inverse operation for additions and subtractions to check their calculations. It was fun! And it helped them to see the number facts associated with a particular sum.
I didn’t realise how talented Year 5 would be at coding. They all made fantastic games during computing. They planned, researched, designed, and made the rules themselves. We might have the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates in our group.

After weeks of practise this half term, Year 5 have created a fantastic dance routine. There has been a lot of hard work from the pupils and their dance instructor. I think we can all agree they did a great job.

The children had a visit from Ashton Library in the Summer Term to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge. Two have finished already in year 6 and have received their certificates. There is still time to complete the challenge if you have signed up!

On Wednesday, our team entered the Catholic Schools Rugby competition. We won all 3 of our heats and went into the semi finals, it was a close match but the final score was 3:1 which ensured our place in the final. Unfortunately we were defeated by St Christopher's who won by one try.

The children in Year 5 all have logins and are expected to complete atleast one task a week. The website offers an unique learning oppurtunity for each child and allows me to track thier progress. If a child is unable to access the website at home they can do a task at school.
