The Year 1 Artists, have been learning about primary and secondary colours. They made fantastic colour wheels, showing that:
Red + Blue = Purple
Yellow+ Blue = green
Red + Yellow = orange
They also looked at Kandinsky's: Squares with Concentric circles.
They practised painting their own circles using different sized brushes and by mixing paint to get different colours.
We have had a really good start to our history topic on Romans. The children have enjoyed drawing their story maps of Claudius, the chieftain and the elephants. They were all very polite and praised my efforts when I drew an elephant. Ask them to tell you the story. We have learnt some interesting words and phrases.
Year 2 have been learning the story of Creation. We have explored what God created on each day and even told the story by creating a soundscape. We wrote about what we are thankful for God creating.
Today, Nursery had a great time at Forest Schools. We were exploring the texture of things in the forest. We were thinking about our senses and describing what we could see. The children were fantastic at using their imaginations and loved building a big house out of the sticks they found!
Nursery's PSHE session this week was called 'How Am I Feeling Today?'. We showed the children different pictures of other children feeling happy or sad and we put them into two groups. We talked about what could make one of our friends happy or sad at Nursery. The children all had a turn of holding 'Jigsaw Jenie' when it...

In Year 3 the children are lucky enough to have a designated chess lesson! It is a great game for helping concentration and problem solving.
Today was their first lesson and they played a Pawn Game to help them understand how the pawn moves on a chess board.
It was great fun!
Today in Year 3 we had to vote in representatives for our Student Council.
Those children who wanted the role wrote a speech and spoke to the whole class (very brave!) about the the qualities of a great student councillor . They also gave some ideas about the kind of things that they would help to change.
